The prestigious international journal Nature Energy (Impact Factor: 70.439) recently published a research paper by the team jointly led by Professor Chen Wei and Associate Professor Liu Zonghao, both ICARE Chinese mentors from the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics. The paper is titled:
“Aromatic interaction-driven out-of-plane orientation for inverted perovskite solar cells with improved efficiency.”

The co-first authors include Postdoctoral Fellow Zhou Qisen, Dr. Wang Jianan, Master student Miao Tianyin, and Postdoctoral Fellow Chen Rui from HUST, as well as Dr. Huang Guoyu from Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). The corresponding authors are Professor Chen Wei and Associate Professor Liu Zonghao (HUST), Researcher Lu Yue (BJUT), and Associate Professor Li Jingbai (Shenzhen Polytechnic University). Huazhong University of Science and Technology is the first corresponding institution, highlighting the leading role of our university in this research.
In this collaborative project, each team contributed according to its expertise:
The team led by Researcher Lu Yue from BJUT conducted Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) characterization and data analysis, providing key material structure insights.
The team led by Associate Professor Li Jingbai from Shenzhen Polytechnic University carried out theoretical calculations, offering essential mechanistic interpretation.
This research received support from multiple national, provincial, municipal, and university-level programs, including the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Innovation Program of Optics Valley Laboratory, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the “Basic Research Support Program” of HUST, the Independent Innovation Research Fund of HUST, the Natural Science Foundation of Hubei Province, and the Excellent Young Scientists Fund of the Natural Science Foundation of Beijing Municipality.
