On October 15, 2025, the AIIC “Volcengine Cup” — First Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition successfully concluded. The competition was co-hosted by the Undergraduate School, Postgraduate School, Student Affairs Office, and Network and Informatization Office, with support from Beijing Volcengine Technology Co., Ltd.

In line with the national innovation-driven development strategy, the contest promoted the deep integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology into campus applications and encouraged teachers and students across the university to explore innovative AI solutions. The event attracted many outstanding teams from different departments of HUST. After fierce competition, several awards were presented, including the Special Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and Track Popularity Award.

Peng Jiaqi and Huang Changhong, students of ICARE, excelled in the Campus Life Track and won the First Prize for their outstanding performance.

Their project, “HUST Chief Nutrition Consultant,” focuses on providing intelligent guidance for student dining on campus. As food options on campus continue to expand, many students are increasingly concerned about balanced, healthy eating. Using AI technology, the project created a personalized intelligent nutrition consultation system that combines canteen data, nutritional information, and users’ personal physical data, exercise habits, and health goals to generate customized daily dietary plans. This achievement demonstrates an innovative application of AI to support smart campus development and improve students’ quality of life.
