Recently, ICARE successfully held an automotive technology study tour for international  students. Fifty students from world-renowned top universities such as the University of Oxford and the National Technical University of Athens walked into the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. Through on-site visits and experiences, they gained a deep understanding of the cutting-edge technologies and development achievements of China’s automotive industry.

Dongfeng MHERO: Experience the Technology of Rugged Off-Road Vehicles

As the first stop of the event, the students visited the Dongfeng MHEREO exhibition area and got up close with the brand’s high-performance off-road vehicles. MHERO models have won wide acclaim from the students for their outstanding off-road capabilities and powerful powertrain systems. During the test ride session, the vehicles’ stable performance on complex terrains left a deep impression on everyone. Although some students were unable to take test drives due to passport issues, the test ride experience still allowed them to fully feel the technical strength of China's off-road vehicles.

Ahmed, a student from Egypt, said excitedly, “Compared with the vehicles I have seen in Egypt, these are ‘superior’ and ‘fantastic’!” Despite the high temperature in Wuhan on that day, which made some students from temperate regions feel slightly uncomfortable, their enthusiasm for participation did not diminish at all.

During the experience session with “Robotaxi” autonomous vehicles, the students showed great interest in autonomous driving technology. Despite language barriers, they gained an in-depth understanding of the vehicles’ intelligent cruise and precise positioning functions through careful observation and personal experience. Many students stated that this was one of the most unforgettable sessions of the day, and the prospect of autonomous driving technology filled them with expectations for future mobility.

5G Empowers Intelligent Transportation: Chinese Technology Leads the Future

At the final stop of the event, the students visited the Chegu Exhibition Center, where they toured the 5G technology application exhibition area and learned about the key role of 5G in intelligent vehicles and smart transportation. A student from Europe exclaimed, “China has taken the lead in the world in 5G applications, and this technology will completely change the way we travel.” Many students expressed their hope to bring China’s advanced experience back to their home countries to promote the global development of intelligent transportation.

This study tour not only allowed international students to intuitively feel the innovative vitality of China's automotive industry but also promoted university-enterprise cooperation and international academic exchanges. The participating students all said that they had gained a lot from this trip and developed a deeper understanding of the speed and achievements of China’s technological development.
