On June 24, MDPI (Wuhan) visited ICARE to explore cooperation opportunities. Both sides held in-depth discussions on university-industry talent training and the establishment of a collaborative exchange platform, culminating in the signing of a strategic cooperation memorandum. Participants included Chen Yushi, Manager of MDPI’s Hankou Office, Ma Li, Manager of the Optics Valley Office, Dr. Zou Mingqing, Vice Dean of ICARE, and other staff members.

Dr. Zou introduced ICARE’s general development, research platforms, and talent cultivation efforts. He emphasized that ICARE is not only tasked with training professionals but also with telling the story of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and China to the world—promoting educational, scientific, and cultural exchanges. He highlighted ICARE’s dual mission of “research and consultation,” aiming to deepen scientific inquiry and offer high-quality consulting services that contribute to social and economic development, while building a “circle of friends” through industry-academia collaboration.

Chen Yushi noted that Huazhong University of Science and Technology was among MDPI’s first partners in Wuhan and that MDPI maintains strong ties with many campus experts and professors. He praised ICARE’s educational environment, philosophy, and national importance in Sino-foreign cooperative education.

The two parties explored key cooperation areas, including talent cultivation, cultural exchange, and curriculum development, identifying multiple promising areas for collaboration. This strategic agreement marks a new phase of university-industry cooperation between ICARE and MDPI (Wuhan), laying a foundation for future joint efforts in academic publishing, talent development, and technology transfer.
